The Society of Friends supports the Museum’s major construction activities.

Illumination of the North Tower spire

The rebuilding of the North Tower spire was among the most ambitious plans which the Society of Friends of the Museum Schloss Moyland supported in its entire history. To mark the 25th anniversary, the Friends presented the North Tower, with its spire, in the proper light, thanks to newly installed lighting.

North Tower spire

The observatory deck at the foot of the Neo-Gothic spire is now open to visitors and offers an incomparable view of the landscape of the Lower Rhine.

In 2007 the spire of the North Tower, which had adorned the silhouette of Moyland Castle until 1945, was rebuilt. The support of many, and especially the pre-financing offered by the Society of Friends, made the reconstruction possible.

New presentation of the collection

Most recently, the main focus of construction has been the redesign of the castle building’s interior in preparation for the reopening in September 2011.

The refurbishment allows an optimal presentation of the works of art while providing the exhibition rooms with a clear structure and drawing the viewer’s attention to the essentials.
