Herb garden

The herb garden of the Museum Schloss Moyland, which was built in 1999, is one of the biggest and most attractive in the region. Its sixteen separate beds, which are framed in boxwood, hold a variety of domestic and foreign herbs. Among them, are herbs from the Anholter-Moyländer Kräuterbuch (Anholt-Moyland book of herbs), poisonous plants, exotic herbs from Asia, Africa and Australia, a bed with herbs known from ancient times, plants from America, medicinal plants and herbs which Hildegard von Bingen used in her herbal medicine, as well as culinary herbs.

Every year, the Moyländer Kräutergartenfest (Moyland herb garden festival) attracts young and old garden enthusiasts, plant and nature lovers to the historic garden complex of the Museum Schloss Moyland.

Guided tours through the Moyland herb garden, one of the largest and most attractive herb gardens in the region, are available from May to October on every second Sunday of the month, at 1 pm. The tour costs € 2 plus museum admission.
